Emily Anderson & Golden Heart Performing Arts: Tanana Valley State Fair

August 2 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Fairbanks grown singer songwriter Emily Anderson is returning to Fairbanks to perform at the Tanana Valley State Fair alongside aerial silks artists from Golden Heart Performing Arts. This collaborative performance will take place Sunday, August 2, at 6:30pm at the Usibelli Stage at the Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds. Golden Heart Performing Arts, founded by Teal Belz, is an acrobatic and aerial arts studio that teaches students of all ages and abilities. The students perform original choreography to Emily Anderson’s original music, culminating in a unique and dynamic performance arts experience for the whole family.

Emily Anderson is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist crafting indie folk pop that is intimate, melodic, and wryly warmhearted. Alaska-grown and Los Angeles based, Anderson’s songwriting has been praised for its authenticity and emotional depth, balancing raw vulnerability with an enduring sense of optimism with a sound reminiscent of Regina Spektor, Carole King, and Kacey Musgraves. Her music has been featured in a national ad campaign for Miller Lite, as well as TV shows (Virgin River, Love is Blind) and video games (Calico, The Stars Between Us, Rec Room). A seasoned live performer, Anderson has toured extensively across the US and Canada, sharing stages with Alex Lahey, Sarah Tudzin, Danielle Ate the Sandwich, and Peter Mulvey. Praised for her “angelic voice” by the Anchorage Press and her “natural harmonies and gorgeous orchestrations” by KUAC, she has been recognized as a finalist in the American Songwriter, Songwriting University, and International Songwriting competitions. Anderson was recently accepted into the 2026 class of the Recording Academy.

This collaboration began 10 years ago when Belz and Anderson got together in Ester Park one evening, Belz on aerial silks and Anderson singing and playing. Since that first meeting, they have collaborated on a number of stages and festivals. Belz is featured in an original music video for “Hold Me” off of Anderson’s album “Simple Things” filmed at Gold Dredge No. 8. “This has been one of the most rewarding and creatively fulfilling collaborations of my career,” says Anderson.

Additional performances with Emily Anderson include Music with Reindeer on Wednesday, July 29 at Running Reindeer Ranch at 7pm and a fundraiser for the Fairbanks Community Garden, Gardenfest, on Thursday, July 30 at 6pm. The fundraiser includes a watercolor workshop by Kate Powers at 4pm. More information about the watercolor workshop can be found here. Gardenfest also features a selection of Emily Anderson’s songwriting and ukulele students who will perform the songs they’ve been working on all semester.
