First Friday with Don Kolstad

Don Kolstad: “I hope you enjoy the show, this is the evolution of my years of painting to get to the point of learning to simplify (hopefully). I love to paint and continue to grow and improve.”
Don Kolstad has been a full-time artist in Alaska since 1982. He currently paints in Oil and Watercolor, gives workshops around Alaska in both mediums, along with weekly Zoom classes online to students all over the United States. He has been an instructor several times at the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, including the most recent one giving watercolor classes. Don paints in plein air (painting outdoors on location) as much as possible here in Alaska and sends out the weekly newsletter to the members of the Plein Air Painters of Alaska. The paintings in this show represent recent studio and plein air pieces. In Don’s words, “I hope you enjoy the show, this is the evolution of my years of painting to get to the point of learning to simplify (hopefully). I love to paint and continue to grow and improve over the years, of course a great wife really helps! I’m a very lucky man!”
