Folk School Science Series: Volcano

June 11 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$20

Should we be worried about a little ash?

Alaska’s volcanoes erupt every year without much drama or press coverage. Spread out along Alaska’s south coast, they seem far enough away not to worry about. But layers of volcanic ash in the soils of interior Alaska paint a very different picture. Learn about Alaska’s volcanoes and what their histories can tell us about how safe we really are.

Fairbanks-based scientist Dr Helena Buurman brings Alaska’s natural wonders to life through informal talks that educate and entertain the inner scientist in all of us.
