Whittle Night

Imagine a diverse group of folks, sitting in the shop, putzing around on things like spoons, spatulas, kuksas, bowls, shrink boxes, chip carving, kolrosing, maybe even root and bark projects…

Join us at The Folk School to whittle/carve/create in a community of common interests.Whittle Night will be held from 6:30 to 9:00 in the Folk School workshop. Participants will be asked to contribute a minimum of $5 per evening to help cover heat and lights. Bring snacks to share and enjoy a productive evening, socializing and learning from others.

This is an unstructured evening, with no direct instruction or expectation of guidance, other than to learn by watching and sharing. These evenings will be restricted to handwork so we can all enjoy conversation and the sound of wood being shaved.

Note: participants should bring their own materials, project and tools. We will supply things like chopping blocks, benches with vices, shaving horses, bowl benches, saws and a limited number of simple carving tools.

Cost: suggested donation: $5
