Location: Little Owl Cafe (new location) | 5 – 8PM
Artist: Tehya Mcleod
About Exhibition: Tehya’s art encapsulates the vibrant essence of Alaska through meticulously layered underpaintings, capturing the dichotomy of life’s pace with the tranquil beauty found in nature’s details. Her work invites viewers into a reflective journey, finding serenity and vivid hues amidst the flurry of existence.
Location: Hoarfrost Distilling | 4 – 8PM
Artist: Sam Miller
About Exhibition: A local artist who was born and raised in Fairbanks, Sam started painting at a very young age and hasn’t stopped since. She enjoys working with a variety of mediums. Graphite drawing, watercolor, acrylic paints, resin, and gouache are mediums she frequently uses, but her favorite is oil paints.
Location: Bear Gallery | 5 – 8PM
About Exhibition: Art is key to a complete education and is a powerful vehicle for expression, exploration, and skill-building– Fairbanks Arts is proud to present the Up With Art student art exhibition in partnership with the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District (FNSBSD). K–12 grade students enrolled in an FNSBSD-affiliated institution were invited to submit one piece of art made at home or in school to the Up With Art student art exhibition! Award ceremonies are held throughout the evening in order of grade.
Location: 2 Street Gallery | 5 – 8PM
Artist: LJ Evans
About Exhibition: The extreme detail because of the high resolution reveals a world unseen, a world of its own. At the same time, the extremely narrow depth of field resulting from this process and the bottomless black surrounding the image add a sense of potent mystery.
Location: Lavelle’s Taphouse | 5 – 8PM
Artist: Kelly Hoffman-Reynolds
About Exhibition: Kelly will be here displaying her beautiful photographs captured from her bush plane adventures. We’re also excited to have Katrina Hamilton, the mastermind behind Toast (Fairbanks’ newest food venture), and Suzy from Salsa on The Side, as part of our event’s lineup.
Location: Pakalolo Supply Co. | 6 – 9PM
Artist: Caitlin
About Exhibition: Caitlin’s Creations features unique handmade paintings featuring Alaskan wildlife on reclaimed wood.
Location: Well Street Art Company | 5 – 8PM
Artist: Jason Lazarus
About Exhibition: This photographic landscape series has been a long-term project for the last ten years for Lazarus, who serves as a Photography Professor at UAF. Summed up in one word, Alaskans are resilient. A product of our harsh climes, we have been shaped by our surroundings and carry with us a stoic nature that is reflected in the place we call home. For many of its people, Alaska’s lonely landscapes, unwelcoming frigid tundra and tumultuous winter weather reflects its true beauty in a way no sublimely captured landscape could. This work intends to capture that deep connection and our unwavering character traits through our surroundings, showing a rarefied Alaska for Alaskans.
Location: The Fairbanks Curling Club | 5PM
About Exhibiton: An evening of art curated from some of our curling club member artists. Photography, watercolors, fabric, and mixed media pieces will be on display. The bar will be open, and there will be curling to watch on the ice.
Location: Bad Mother Vintage | 5 – 8PM
About Exhibition: The family and friends of Emmy Perkins are hosting a First Friday Fundraising event at Bad Mother Vintage to support her through her recent cancer diagnosis. Emmy was diagnosed with a rare form of Hodgkin’s lymphoma in December of 2023. By the time she had scheduled her first treatment, she found herself already in tens of thousands of dollars of medical debt. She is unable to work because of her illness and is now being supported entirely by donations until she can get better. Emmy is a 25 year old Alaskan artist who still continues to create through her chronic fatigue and nausea. Over the last year Emmy has produced coloring books, stickers, and buttons for monetization, all which will be the focal point of this event! Some featured art who have donated in support of this event and Emmy include Deloole Erickson, Lindsey Maillard, Daniell Stromanthe, Mo Dart, April Monro, Mathew Wolfe, and more to come.
